Basic Affiliate Internet Marketing

May 9th, 2008 by ycentre2182

All of us would love to make a little more money. Sometimes just a little to supplement an income can be a huge help. Today it is easier that you think to get a little extra cash in your bank accounts. Most of us today have our own personal websites. We can get them for free and use them as a method to keep others informed of what we are doing. You can actually turn your website into a way of making some extra cash for you. By placing some audio books on your site, you have the potential to earn some cash.

When people go onto your site, if they see an audio book that is interesting and purchase it, you receive what is known as a referral payment. Gradually your earnings will increase as your website gets viewed.

You’re not likely going to get rich with just your own personal website. However, it is a way to get started. There may come a time when you create another site and you can start turning this into a money making venture as well. You could sign up for an affiliate program and make money through their ads. To do this well you need to think of an appropriate affiliate program that readers of your site would appreciate. For example, if you site is about pets, you may want to look for affiliates that work with pet supplies, pet food or veterinary services.

Once you have a site up and running, you need to get a list of affiliate companies that will give you their advertising banners. There are loads of companies on the net that will help you. You can also get performance statistics on them as well. You will be able to track how much you will earn and how you will be paid.

Two companies that are incredibly popular are commission junction and link share. These will both help you find affiliates for your website. They have loads of good, accurate information available on what companies would be best and how well they perform.

Signing up for one of these affiliate programs is easy. You will be asked for personal information so don’t be put off. This is necessary because they will be paying you commission money. You’ll be expected to give your social security number as well as take information. Once you sign up you will need to think about which programs to choose.

Commission junction has all of the information available on which companies pay which rates of commission. They also have information on how well and timely they make their payments. If a company is a shaky reputation, commission junction will know about it.

Another option is to sell audio books for your niche. Audio books have become very popular in the last few years. People enjoy the convenience of listening to books rather than reading them.

If you are looking to make a little more money then it is easy. Why not take the first step and turn you personal website into a way to make cash. Fill up those blank spaces with audio books and let the money roll in. you can always expand and create different websites. Affiliate programs are great ways to help you earn money. You can start off small with your own site and then expand into other areas. Eventually, you could build your own affiliate business. Look into affiliate marketing. It could be quite lucrative.

A Family Christmas Sleigh Ride

May 8th, 2008 by ycentre2182

You see pictures of it in magazines, commercials, flyers, paintings. But do people still really do it? Yes they do. A sleigh ride at Christmas time. It still does exist.

A few years ago a good friend of mine called me up and asked if I would like to bring my family to her family Christmas party. Of course I said yes. She then told me that we would be meeting at a farm to go on a horse drawn sleigh ride. What a great idea! It was one of the best Christmas get togethers we had gone to.

So this year I thought. Hmmmm what could I do for my family Christmas. As most of you know, as the years go by families go their separate ways. Sometimes even at Christmas. So, what we try to do is get all the brothers, sisters, Aunts, Uncles, cousins etc.. together a week or two before Christmas day. What better way to get everyone together, than to go on an old fashion Christmas sleigh ride.

I thought first I will call the oldest person in the family to see how she felt about it. Well let me tell you my 86 year old Grandmother is almost as excited as my 6 year old daughter. She told me that she had always wanted to go on one but had never gotten the chance in all her years. What a great memory this will be for her. Seeing her great grandchildren, grandchildren and daughters all together on something she had always wanted to do. Merry Christmas Gramma!

Now the planning begins. I choose a date, then called a local farmer to book the sleigh ride. You may want to book early so that you can get the date and time you want. I made a list of all my guests. And as Santa would do, I check it twice. I then called everyone. Told them about the family Christmas party and what we would be doing. By the way…Everyone loves the idea. While one the phone with my guests I ask them what they would like to bring. It’s a potluck all the way. This way it’s makes it a little easier on the host for when we get back to the house. Everything is prepared, (you may have to warm a few things) but you are able to serve the food as soon as everyone gets back from the Christmas sleigh ride.

Once you know what everyone is bringing, make a list of it so that you can make sure you have enough for the amount of people you are having. For instance, I’ll be having around 30 people back. So my menu is: Brie-warmed and served with crackers, cheese and kielbasa platter, vegetable tray with dip, cabbage rolls, lasagna, sweet and sour meatballs, cheesy mashed potatoes, fresh rolls, Cesar Salad and some yummy Christmas baking. I will also serve hot apple cyder, have some beer and wine and juice for the kiddies.

Try to do all your shopping a few days before the event. That way everything is fresh, and you still have time to prepare what you’re making. Make sure you have all the glasses, plates, cutlery, napkins, bowls etc. that you need. I use paper or plastic so that I’m not spending all my time in the kitchen while everyone his here. It’s a quick and easy clean up and I can enjoy some Christmas cheer with my family and friends.

I am really looking forward to my family Christmas sleigh ride this year. And if you decide to try this wonder festive event, I’m sure it will become one of your family favorite traditions as it has ours.

Merry Christmas!

Rod Stewart’s comeback rock release in eight years earned him his fourth No. 1 album on the US pop albums chart with 184,304 copies sold in the week, according Nielsen SoundScan data provided by the veteran rocker’s J Records label.

“Still the Same … Great American Rock Classics of Our Time” features Bob Seger-written title track, Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You” and Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love” — is Stewart’s first No. 1 rock album since 1979’s “Blondes Have More Fun.” His other chart-toppers were the Grammy-winning “Stardust … The Great American Songbook: Volume III” in 2004 and 1971’s “Every Picture Tells A Story.”

The previous week’s champ, goth-pop band Evanescence’s “The Open Door” slipped to No. 2 with 164,000 copies.

Billboard. Rapper Lloyd Banks’ second set, “Rotten Apples,” bowed at No. 3 with 143,000 units. His 2004 debut, “The Hunger for More,” debuted at No. 1.

Jimmy Buffett’s “Take the Weather With You” stands at the fourth spot of the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with 121,000 units. His 2004 release, “License To Chill,” debuted at No. 1 in 2004 with 239,000.

Tony Bennett’s “Duets: An American Classic” fell one place to No. 5 in its second week with 105,000 units.

Rod Stewart can be regarded as the rock generation’s heir to Sam Cooke. Like Cooke, Stewart delivers both romantic ballads and uptempo material with conviction and panache, and he sings in a warm, soulful rasp.

Before his notoriety as an international “Ladies Man” and football fanatic, Rod Stewart started his musical career as a credible artist.

After an unsuccessful apprenticeship with Brentford football club, Rod joined Long John Baldry’s group, The Hoochie Coochie Men, in 1964.

A year later and a name change to Steampacket, the band was supporting the Rolling Stones on tour. Rod had his first nationwide exposure when he joined the Jeff Beck Group, as lead vocalist, in 1966.

When the group disbanded, Rod Stewart joined The Faces, who quickly earned themselves a reputation of being a boozy, boisterous rock and roll band. For the next six years, Rod would run a parallel solo career, which drew critical acclaim for the warmth of his song writing style.

In 1971, the song ‘Maggie May’ was his first Number One hit internationally, and was later named as one of the ‘500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll’.

A bitter squabble with a tax collector sent rod Stewart packing to the glitzy Los Angeles a move which the singer underlined by the album title ‘Atlantic Crossing’ and the anthemic single ‘Sailing’.

The release of “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy” not only marked a turning point in Rod’s musical styles, it also sealed the singer’s image as a swaggering, preening ladies’ man with the tabloids. The critics turned on his more pop-sounding approach as a sell-out to that era’s disco trend.

His career came full circle in 1993 when he recorded Unplugged…and Seated for MTV’s “Unplugged” series, reuniting with his erstwhile collaborator, Ron Wood, for a run-through of vintage material.

In 1998, he recorded one of his strongest albums in years, When We Were the New Boys, which harked back to the rough-and-tumble rock of the Faces era while paying respect to newer acts who’d come along in their wake, such as Oasis, Graham Parker and Elvis Costello.

“Tonight’s the Night” marked Rod’s enduring appeal, at London’s Victoria Palace theatre, featuring many of Stewart’s biggest hits. Most recently, Rod has successfully concentrated on singing standards from the 1930s and 1940s for ‘The Great American Songbook’.

His interpretation of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, the Gershwins and other great American songwriters may have met with mixed critical response, but it has been massively successful with the public. Great sales have resulted in two volumes so far, and a third will be released shortly.

Rod Stewart was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in January 19, 1994

at the ninth annual induction dinner.

Seinfeld (Seasons 1 & 2) DVD Review

The preeminent show of the 1990’s decade, Seinfeld grew from an idea of “a show about nothing” into a sacred pop culture icon - not that there’s anything wrong with that… The show follows the life of comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the exploits of his “short, quirky, bald guy” best friend, George Costanza (Jason Alexander), Jerry’s neurotic neighbor Cosmo Kramer (Michael Richards), and Jerry’s ex-girlfriend Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Through the years, they’re joined by a loveable cast of characters that includes Newman, Uncle Leo, the Soup Nazi, Frank and Estelle Costanza, the Bubble Boy, and countless others…

The Seinfeld DVD (Seasons 1 & 2) offers the very first glimpse into the world Jerry, beginning with The Pilot (episode 1) which was originally titled The Seinfeld Chronicles. The first scene involves Jerry commenting to George about a button on his shirt (the same conversation later takes place in the last scene of the series finale). These opening episodes provide insight into the development of the show’s four primary characters with conversations that range from George’s initial admission that he’d like to be an architect (episode 2) to Kramer’s propensity for get rich quick schemes like a make-your-own-pizza pizzeria (episode 4). From day one, Seinfeld established itself as “must see TV,” creating such memorable episodes as “The Stock Tip,” “The Pony Remark,” “The Deal,” and “The Chinese Restaurant”.

Interestingly, in the pilot episode of Seinfeld, Elaine’s character does not yet exist, and Kramer’s character (not yet named Kramer, but Feldman) is more of an unemployed, pathetic, shut-in neighbor than the usual quirky and energetic Cosmo. Playing the role of the female in George and Jerry’s life is a wisecracking waitress named Claire (Lee Garlington) who never appears in later episodes.

Nevertheless, this initial episode exhibits the flashes of brilliance that made Seinfeld a cultural phenomenon. The show is essentially about nothing. George and Jerry do some laundry… Jerry and his neighbor watch some TV… George and Jerry have some coffee… During that time, the dominant topic of conversation is a girl that Jerry met while taking his comedy act on the road. She’s coming to stay at his place, but he doesn’t know whether he should pull out a mattress for her or not. Feldman (Kramer), George, and Jerry debate the topic endlessly until the woman arrives and Jerry learns that it’s all irrelevant because she’s engaged…

Below is a list of episodes included on the Seinfeld (Seasons 1 & 2) DVD:

Episode 1 (Pilot: Good News, Bad News) Air Date: 07-05-1989
Episode 2 (The Stakeout) Air Date: 05-31-1990

Rave History

What is a rave?

An all night event, a rave is where people go to dance, socialise, get high and generally have unhibited fun with other likeminded people. Some say it’s about the creation of a community, togetherness and re-connecting with something perceived as lost (anyone remember the glory days of Northern?). Others just say it’s about necking loads of pills and getting wasted with your mates in a field.

Where rave?

Normally in an unused warehouse, club, beach, field, aircraft hangar or a sports arena - anywhere which could accommodate a huge sound system and lots of people. In the heydays of the late ’80s, the larger Do’s attracted tens of thousands of people. The venue would usually remain secret up until hours before the rave was due to begin as means of keeping the police away. Organisers would often have backup sites in mind in case the cops caught wind of them - which they did with increasing frequency.

Etymology?

The word rave first came into use in the UK during the late 50’s, referring to the wild bohemian parties of the time. It was next briefly revived by the mods, but didn’t come back into usage until the mid eighties illegal London warehouse party scene. However it seems likely that the term ‘rave’ came from Jamaican usage rather than a revival of any previous usage in Britain.

Who?

Rave crowds are mostly (but not exclusively) young from all sections of society .

Music?

Rave music is now tagged ‘dance’ music, or as some government pension-planner put it, music with a distinctive ’series of repetitive beats’. Early ravers made the discovery that the combination of ecstasy and music with fast, repetitive beats was a marriage made in disco heaven. The big Do’s have a line-up of top name DJs as well as some live performances by dance music bands.

Why so successful in UK in the 1980s?

Theories are many as to why the UK went wild for raving in the late 80s and beyond. It occurred during a period of major consumerism and individualism. Thatcher was telling everyone to look after number one (”no such thing as society”!). There was bound to be a reaction to this - a bunch of English DJs had just got back from Ibiza where they had tasted rave culture & ecstasy first hand. Within a year rave culture had flourished. Instead of money and power, rave called for empathy, intimacy, spirituality and the joy of losing yourself in the crowd. (Remember Northern, anyone?) Interestingly, check out a 1986 novel ‘The Last Election’, by Pete Davies.

The End?

By the early ’90s, the police, Tory government, middle England and tabloid press had all had enough of rave culture. Thatcher’s government acted, passing the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act (1994).

Addressing the issue of raves, Sections 63, 64 & 65:

A ‘rave’ is defined as a gathering of 100 plus people, at which amplified music is played which is likely to cause serious distress to the local community, in the open air and at night. These sections give the police the power to order people to leave the land if they’re believed to be:

If you have or are planning to have several domains running on the web, then you should consider getting a multiple domain hosting. Multiple domain hosting allows you to host several domains under a single hosting plan. Most web hosting companies call it shared hosting.

The main advantage of multiple domain hosting is it helps to consolidate all your domains under one hosting plan. It makes domain management a breeze. It also makes it easier to modify any settings since you are doing it from the same control panel.

Here are a few tips you might want to bear in mind when looking a shared hosting service.

Hard Disk Space

Nowadays most shared web hosting plans provide more than enough disk space to satisfy your needs. It is important you know before hand how much disk space your web site will be using not just currently but projected 6 months, 1 year and 2 years down the road.

Some web applications requires more disk space than others. One example are file hosting sites. Also remember to check the cost of upgrading your disk space in case you need one. Most web hosting providers charge on a per GB basis.

Bandwidth

Most web hosting providers cap a limit on each hosting plan’s bandwidth. Check to make sure it provides sufficient bandwidth for your current websites and also room for growth. Most web hosting providers will charge you on a per GB basis for exceeded bandwidth.

The speed is also important for websites. No one wants to visit a website that loads slowly. File hosting and video sites for example requires an acceptable speed in order to deliver file download or streaming video.

Number of Domains Allowed

Some web hosting limit the number of domains for each hosting plan. It is best to get one with unlimited domains so you have to worry about the limit.

Emails/FTP accounts

You probably will need separate email accounts for each domain you have. Most web hosting services provide webbased or as well outlook based email accounts. Preferably try to get one that has unlimited email/ftp accounts.

Ease of control panel

With many domains, emails, ftp accounts etc to manage, it is important that the control panel is easy to use and all information can be accessed easily. Most web hosting services provide cpanel. Some web hosting services do use their own customised control panel. A good example is godaddy.

Whichever control panel you are using, familiarize yourself with the interface and get used to it as fast as possible.

Fix Computer Problems In A Jiffy With Rollback Rx

May 3rd, 2008 by ycentre2182

Rollback Rx system restore software is mandatory for every computer user to ensure system security and data loss prevention. More so in educational institutions dependent on PCs for their routine work, where a rollback tool is essential since most are multi user systems. PC restore is a regular operation that has to be done, to preserve data and to repair computer problems that might arise from misuse of computers. This can happen in many ways, but can be totally avoided with a disaster recovery solution like Rollback Rx.

Areas Where Rollback Rx Can Repair Computer Issues

In colleges and universities where several people use the same computer, students store their academic work in the form of reports, software programs, etc in various folders. Because many people use the same system, the necessity to fix computer problems arises when certain files or folders become deleted or moved. This could very well cause problems. With Rollback Rx, PC restore can be done easily to a secure state, to keep the operating system and other data intact.

Unauthorized Downloads Can Be Fixed With Rollback Rx

There is a tendency to download free programs that appear useful, little knowing that it can lead to security issues and computer repair. Viruses and spyware get into the system and crash the entire network. In such situations, Rollback Rx helps retrieve important data while removing all these unwanted elements from the pc network when a system restore is performed, preventing permanent damage and exorbitant costs.

Just imagine having the hard drive being deleted by a click of the mouse. When students handle computers, they are usually curious and tend to tinker around with settings and end up, sometimes unintentionally creating computer repair, putting the computer’s security at risk. When Rollback Rx is installed on the pc, it can be scheduled to take snapshots at specific intervals so that fixing computer problems becomes a quick task instead of creating several hours of downtime and data loss. This would avoid serious issues like certain scheduled activities being deactivated, antivirus programs being over-ridden or firewalls turned off, exposing the network to sabotage and other malware. With Rollback Rx, this sort of problem can be avoided and rectified easily, because it helps rollback the systems to a configuration that is suitable.

Rollback Rx system restore software is like a guardian for the PC network, avoiding computer repair and disaster through program failure or operating system malfunction. It keeps the system healthy and the user happy. While very simple to use, Rollback Rx has the options of selectively allowing only certain people to access it, thereby making it ideal where multi-user systems exist.
